ACUTE KIDNEY INJURY AND NEUROLOGICAL TOXICITY CAUSED BY INTRAVENOUS ACYCLOVIR

چکیده
Acyclovir is an effective antiviral agent in herpes simplex and varicella-zoster infections treatments. However, it may cause serious side effects. This case study reports a patient who developed both acute tubular necrosis neurotoxicity induced by intravenous acyclovir recovered promptly after hemodialysis. Caution needed monitoring patients receiving acyclovir. Eliminating with early diagnosis immediate daily hemodialysis necessary for successful treatment.

Intravenous Fluids and Acute Kidney Injury.
Over 50% of the human body is comprised of fluids that are distributed in defined compartments. Although compartmentalized, these fluids are dynamically connected. Fluids, electrolytes, and acid-base balance in each compartment are tightly regulated, mostly in an energy-dependent manner to achieve their designed functions. For over a century, our understanding of the microvascular fluid homeost...

Objective(s): Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) command a great deal of attention for biomedical applications nowadays. The data about the degree of toxicity and the accumulation of gold nanoparticles in-vivo is not enough to judge. Materials and Methods: A total of 32 healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 including: three GNP-treated and one control group. Groups 1, 2 and 3 receive...
